Update

Hey family! Now that we are all in different states I'm going to try and be better about posting. I thought I would catch everyone up on what has been happening in Issaac and my life since moving to Des Moines.

I arrived in Des Moines on Saturday December 18th with mom and dad following me. Issaac worked late that night so mom and dad didn't get to see him until Sunday. On Sunday Issaac was are tour guide and showed us the house he grew up in, his elementary and high school, Ohanas Steakhouse where he works on the weekend and downtown Des Moines. Sunday night Issaac worked at Ohanas and mom, dad and I had the special treat of having him cook for us. It was AMAZING!

Monday mom, dad and I went down to the capitol and took the trolley that run around downtown Des Moines. The capitol was beautiful and it was fun learning about the state I'm going to live in.

Tuesday mom and dad left for Chicago and I had the privilege of watching Samantha LaPole, the 15 month old child of the couple Issaac and I are living with.

Wednesday I had my Grand View orientation where I got to get my parking pass, student Id, books, nursing uniform, meet the president of the university, turn in paper work and meet fellow students.

Issaac got Friday off so we drove up to Cedar Falls for Christmas. It is normally a two hour drive but it took us a little over three hours due to road conditions and snowy conditions. We weren't able to attend a New Years Eve service because the roads were really bad. So instead we had a family New Years Eve were I read about the Advent candles and read the Christmas story out of the Bible. For Christmas Issaac's brother, Zac and his wife Megan and her son Blayne as well as Issaac's Aunt Sandi and her son Matthew (the little boy I danced with at the wedding) came over for breakfast and unwrapping presents. Zac and Issaac made a toboggan run for the little and big kids to go down, it was tons of fun.

The past week for me has been very mellow. I can't wait for school to start so I have something to do. Issaac has been very busy with Schwan’s. He leaves at 8:30am and does not get home until 10:30-11:30. This past week he has been getting home around 10:30 but the previous week it was 11:30 or later.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a happy New Year!

Issaac was working New Years Eve. He was out in the country and the roads were horrible because it had rained that morning and than everything turned to ice. Issaac was on his way to his last stop when he hit some black ice. The truck pulled him to the left and he was able to correct it so he didn't go into the ditch but than it pulled him to the right and his back tires were too far over to correct it and he ended up rolling the Schwains truck.

Issaac had to stay with the truck. The tow truck took him and the ruck back to the Schwains depo. There was minimal damage to the vehicel and Issaac was fine. Issaac spent the night joking with the local sherifs. Issaac had his accident around 5:40 and didn't get home until 11:30... just in time to ring in the new year.
