BLACKHAWKS

Well as I am sure all of you are aware- hockey season has officially begun!!!! Larry and I were able to catch the season opener of the Blackhawks because it was being hosted here in CO... It was also the homeopener for the Avalanche so it was a pretty exciting game. They brought in the 1996 Stanely Cup team for the Av's which Coach Quenneville was coaching at the time.
It was a really exciting game but unfortunely the Hawks fell 4 to 3 in the last minute twenty of overtime. Fear not Blackhawk fans- I looked into it and last season, the Stanely Cup winning season, they lost thier first regular season game as well, the score: 4 to 3. That factoid made me feel a little bit better.

The tickets

Larry and I excited for the game to begin

First face off of the season- Naturally that is Toews in the center:)

Luanne, I was in Chicago that very day, and about every two blocks all the way up Michigan Avenue, there were ice sculptures of the Stanley Cup just sitting on the sidewalk. The "cup" at the top had melted by the time we passed by, so they looked like 3-foot-high Sparkletts bottles. We walked all around one and took our pictures with it, even though we didn't know what they were until I got to Beth's and watched the evening news -- ah-hah! Sorry, haven't taken the photos off my camera yet, or I'd add it to your photos. Soon...and very soon...yeah, right!
